Curly leaf pondweed

Greetings all,
This log entry is to let all interested parties know that on April 20, 2005 Summit Laboratory was on the Main Lakes to perform a preliminary assessment of the curly leaf pondweed and algae. With the first half of April being so warm and sunny we didn't know what to expect.
I am happy to report we are still ahead of the curly leaf pondweed. We found it growing in the old places and found it in some new. The GPS coordinates of the curly leaf have been documented, but the plants are still 3 to 3.5 feet below the surface. We will return in about 10 days to complete a curly leaf pondweed treatment map which we can submit to Norm at Aquatic Nuisance Control for a spring treatment.

Overall the lakes look good. Very little algae at this point, but we will keep a close eye on it.

I have spoken to Norm to keep him updated and he is ready to roll when we give him the signal.

And to the fishermen and women....
Panfish have moved into the shoreline. No beds yet (of course) but they are looking hungry. It might be a good time to get the fly rod out.

Thank you, Tom and Joel
