On Tuesday June 17th the Main Lakes (Finger, East, Main, West Main, and Far West) and Lake of the Clouds received the pre-4th of July general nuisance aquatic herbicide application. On Wednesday the 18th Lake Laura, Sunset Lake, and Fawn Lake is being treated. The application will be very similar to the applications of the past many years. Treatment maps are included below. Smaller lakes such as Kitt and Rush Lake may be treated later in the season and if such treatments become necessary a notice will be posted via this site and the Lake Manager's Blog.
The aquatic herbicides being applied are contact herbicides designed to singe down native vegetation. Treated aquatic plants should fall out of the water column 10-14 days after the treatment is administered. Please visit the Blog for more detailed information.
The contact herbicides that will be used (Reward, Aquathol, Hydrothol) are engineered salts that quickly breakdown and become inert following the application. They carry a 24 hour no swimming restriction , a 3 day no fish consumption restriction and a 14 day lawn and livestock watering restriction. Please understand that livestock watering is not the equivalent of incidental drinking of treated waters by domestic pets. This 14 day lawn and livestock watering restriction is only on Hydrothol which is used sparingly if at all in this particular application. If you have any questions about the general aquatic herbicide application or any other lake related items, never hesitate to contact me at mail@summitlaboratory.com or visit the Blog for more in depth information. Thank you and enjoy the upcoming Holiday in full confidence. Your Lake Manager, Joel Steenstra
