Time to Pull the Purple Loosestrife

Looking around the CL shoreline, Purple Loosestrife flowers are about 2/3 developed. That means it's time to pull 'em. If we try to pull the plants too early, we will end up overlooking soon to flower plants in those areas. Over the next week to 10 days, you should notice all the purple flowering shoreline plants disappearing. If you have plants that are still in bloom at the end of July, let us know your location so we can pull them. The bulk of the PL is on the Main Lakes. We have recorded plants in isolated patches on Lake of the Clouds, Lake Laura, and North Camper Pond too. If you want to pull your plants yourself, be sure to cover the flowers with a bag before you pull them out. Plants can be burned or if they are bagged, they can be dumped. I would love an email from you letting me know where you pulled the plants so I can continue to keep track of the population. Just click on the post a comment link at the end of this Blog. Please do the same if you have any questions you need answered.
